Acupressure

Acupressure is a form of healing that has been used for many years throughout history, it was introduced before acupuncture, but both are based on the same principle.

It involves putting pressure onto points of the body which conduct bioelectrical impulses in the body. When these points are stimulated with pressure pain-relieving neurochemicals called endorphins are released. As a result, pain is relieved in the affected area. The power and sensitivity of the touch, as well as the increased circulation of chi and blood, causes the muscles to relax and promotes healing.

Tension tends to concentrate around acupressure points. When a muscle is canonically tense or is in spasm, the muscle fibres contract due to the secretion of lactic acid caused by fatigue, trauma, stress, chemical imbalances, poor circulation, diet or lack of exercise.

As a point is pressed, the muscles elongate and relax, allowing blood to flow freely, the toxins to be released and eliminated. Increased circulation also brings more oxygen and other nutrients to the affected area. The increase not only heals existing issues but also strengthens resistance to illness and promotes good health.

Acupressure can also help restore emotional balance by releasing the accumulated tension caused by repressed feelings. When blood, oxygen and bioelectric energy circulate properly, we have a greater sense of harmony, health and wellbeing.

Whether to relieve pain or circular discomfort or to prevent illness, acupressure techniques are intended to correct imbalances, working towards regulation and harmony of all systems of the body.

Prices are normally dependant on issue or injury but start at £30 for one area - £40 for two areas.
